Goddess Maa Dalakahi is one of the numerous forms of Godess Maa Aadishakti. She exists at the outskirts of Brahmanpadar village located within the boundaries of Ghumusar South Forest Zone of Odisha state, Ganjam District, Bhanjanagar Sub-Division. According to the folk-talks, Ghumusar South Forest Zone was very dense and also full of cannibals. Hence, villagers of Brahmanpadar who were going inside the forest to collect fire woods, leaves, fruits, etc and travelers passing through the Brahmanpadar - Mujjaguda forest road were offering a branch of tree to worship the Goddess seeking protection and well-being for self and companions. With the time Maa Dalakhai Pitha has undergone transformation and Maa Dalakhai also has assumed a new getup. Nevertheless, the old belief is still alive and she is blessing and protecting her devotees like in the past. Having survived from incurable disease of cancer by the blessings of Maa Dalakhai, one elderly Brahmin has devoted himself to the Goddess few years back. To serve the Goddess and her devotees the Brahmin priest has been staying in the Maa Dalakhai Pitha in the forest since that day.
