More about Kreativebug

Bumper Stickers could have possibly pre-dated the Bumpers themselves, only if the ‘Ford Model T’ had them. It was only in 1927, when ‘Ford Model A’ was introduced – with bumpers. The first Bumper Stickers appeared shortly before the World War II in 1930s: they were flag like, and attached to the bumper by wires.

The current Bumper Sticker is often credited to Forest P. Gill, a silkscreen printer from Kansas City – who replaced the wire attachments with pressure sensitive adhesive. And as a result, the Bumper Stickers became more widespread and practical.

The first widespread use of the advertising bumper sticker might have been the ubiquitous "See Rock City" signs, touting a tourist attraction atop Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, US. In the 1940s, visitors to the site had a sticker applied to their car, which duplicated the famous signs painted on the roofs of barns throughout the south-eastern USA. Rock City staff would circulate through the parking lot, applying the promotional sticker to every car. Although called "stickers", these bumper signs were really lightweight, screen-printed cardboard. They were attached by means of thin aluminium strips, running through the end of the sign and wrapping around the bumper.

Considerable variation exists around the world as to the context and purpose of stickers. On some vehicles, some stickers are like trophy signs of WWII aeroplanes, either of locations visited or actions completed.

They have also been extensively applied to rear windows as well, where legislative measures have not banned such use. For instance in Sweden that is the normal place to put them and the bumper sticker is actually called "bakrutedekal" (rear window decal). In Israel, one of the most popular songs of all time is "Shirat Hasticker" ("The Sticker Song") by Hadag Nachash, a song composed entirely of bumper sticker slogans.

More recently, bumper stickers have become a route for advertising and a few companies even offer to match car owners to advertisers willing to pay for the ad. Variants of the bumper sticker have developed in recent years including vinyl decals meant to be applied to a car's rear windshield, and chrome emblems to be affixed to the body of the car itself, generally on the rear.

“Kreativebug” is one such evolution of the mind of a zany bloke bitten by – not an endearing spidey – but a ‘bumpie keeda’ … (I know that sounds cheesy, but frankly I could not think of better phrase).

The objective is to create funky, funny, cheesy, corny, happy Bumper Sticker designs – that appeal to your inherent qualities and /or attitude towards life. The Kreativebug Bum Par Stickers or ‘Bumpiez’ as we call them – will help you flaunt your attitude by sticking them on the arse (a.k.a. rear bumper) or the rear windscreen (or wherever darn you wanna put it) of your Car/SUV.

The guy behind this creative designs and this initiative is a freelance designer – who has already scaled the corporate ladder pretty well over the last decade or so. It was the zeal, jest and panache for creating interesting stuff (not to mention the inheritance of some creative genes from his parents) from his younger days that led to the Kreativebug phenomenon and explore un-tread paths like ‘Bumper Stickers’ in a country like India.

Having already undertaken and delivered creative works (Bum Par Stickers) for brands like Happily Unmarried (http://www.happilyunmarried.com/products/u-f-o-s/bum-par-stickers.html), Wildlife Trust of India (Vehicle Customization) among others - Kreativebug still has a long way to go.

Through this page, we share our thoughts, designs and other creations – including an upcoming range of Laptop Stickers and Capstickies – with the world.

Stay tuned for more!
