Kochumaruthady Temple

The Kochumaruthady Sree Bhadra Devi Temple is situated 10kms west of kollam city, in the midst of old shakthikulangara panchayath, south west of vattakayal fresh water lake.
The main diety is that of the serene faced Sri Bhaddra Devi. Ganapathy, Nagarajavu, Yogeeshwaran, Madanthamburan are the surrounding dieties in this temple. Apart from the ordinary poojas, Special offerings(Vazhipadu) are also done. Among them the most important poojas are 'Sahasrakshari Pooja' , 'Manipooja' , 'Nakshathra Pooja' and so on. The Kochumaruthady Sree Bhadra Devi is known for piety , antiquity and historical Significance. The other virtues include goodness , blessing power and she is the holy symbol of maternal kindness. A grand festival is conducted every year in the name of Sree Bhadra Devi on the second day of kumbhamasam. Under the supervision of the temple thanthri Thottathilmadam Brahmasri Arun Namboothiri , the ultsavam is flagged off on kumbham 2 , the ultsavam concludes on kumbham 9 , with the 'Vattakayal Jalolsavam' , 'Kettukala Maholsavam' and 'Thiru Aarattu' bieng conducted on the same day.
