The Karnatak Law Society’s Gogte Institute of Technology (GIT) was established in the year 1979 with a liberal financial donation by the Late shri Raosaheb B. M. Gogte, a noted Industrialist and philanthropist.
The Institute started with undergraduate courses in three Engineering disciplines with a total intake of 180 and a total staff strength of 16. Now, it offers under graduate courses in eight disciplines, postgraduate studies in five disciplines, Research and Ph.D. programmes in 8 decipline, Master’s course in Computer Applications and Master of Business Administration. The institute has seen a phenomenal growth in students strength from meagre 180 in 1979 to 2800 plus in the academic year 2008-09. The total staff strength has grown manifold from 16 in 1979 to 350 plus today.
