Its Establishment & gradual Development. Khagrachari Govt. College, the highest. Seat of learning the hilly district of Khagrachari is surround with exquisite scenes and sights in the lap of unrivaled beauties of nature. The panoramic beauty of nature surrounding the college and the lofty standard of teaching make the institution a great attraction for the students and learners from all over the district.



Although the decision to establish a non govt college after the name of Khagrachari was taken in 1974 by some patrons of education and learned persons of this region, the college actually started its functions formally on the 10th of March,1975. Then the college started its journey form Pankhaiya Para, its original place site of foundation with a small number of male and female students, and a few teachers in Humanities and commerce groups. After a few years in the college was shifted to its present location Khejoor Bagan. The college was nationalized on the first of March 1980.



The college is now situated on 8.5 acres of land in a beautiful natural environment near the entrance gate of Khagrachari town beside the main road of the hilly district. At present the college is conducting courses in Humanities, commerce and science groups at Higher Secondary Level, and B.A. B.S.S and B.B.S. at Degree (Pass) level. The institution started its Hon-ours course in Political Science in 29008. Hon-ours course in general History is going to start from the education year / session 2010-2011. About fifteen hundred students are now reading in this college. In this college, there are 54 posts for teachers including the posts of the principal and the vice principal. There are 06 third class employees and and 12 fourth class employees in the college.



There are a two – storeyed administrative building, a two storeyed and a three storeyed academic buildings, a computer laboratory and a modern library in the college. There is also a beautiful semi-pucca dormitory for teachers. Many colleges in Bangladesh do not have such kind of furnished dormitory as that of Khagrachari Govt. College and it makes our stay at Khagrachari easy and comfortable. Bangladesh Open University conducts a number of learning courses at Khagrachari Govt. College center. This college has a good reputation for conducting examinations in a fair environment free from copying and unfair means.
