Kappukad

. Kappukad is one of the ancient village in southern Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari District. Also known as Kappiyankadu on the belief of the ancient Tamil poet Thoulkappiyar the disciple of Agasthya, was born here on May 1 in the Tamil month of Chitirai on a pournami day in 865 BC.
The area of Kappukad is spreading over 1 km distant in all directions with center at St. Antony's Church, Kappukad. The area is thickly populated and more than 6000 families live here with good harmony and social-economic values.
The village is situated 2 km away from the Nagercoil - Trivandrum National Highway (NH47) and 3 km away from the continuation of East Coast Road connecting Kanyakumari and Kochi. The village is an important junction for both ways and for the proposed Express Highway from Trivandrum to Kanyakumari too.

The village is surrounded with paddy fields and coconut trees. Now a days people from this village Concentrating more planting Rubber trees.
One side of the village is heightened with rocks and small hills and the other side the river Thamiraparani is flowing.
