Kalakendra

Kala Kendra is the centre for arts promoting the various different forms of visual arts and fine arts within and around the community of Auroville.

Its is a centre which is the major hub of all art activities of Auroville and engaged itself in the promotion of arts by providing a space for expression of these arts. It houses facilities like Gallery space, Audio Visual room, Artist in residence studio for visiting artists, Pottery Studio and Studio for Multidiscipline art activities. It has a large gallery space for exhibition and an additional lower level for installations.

It hots various exhibitions, installations, presentations, interactive sessions, workshops, seminars, etc in the field of arts, in the light of Sri Aurobindo's philosophy.

The main objective of the centre is to promote study and research in Various arts in this light and discover its contemporary expressions, through exhibitions, workshops, interactions, etc and create and ambience for its suitable growth within the community. It strives to encourage Aurovillan artists and local artists from surrounding region and also to introduce various Indian and visiting artists to Auroville community to engage into an artistic interaction.
