Settled in the middle of nowhere, Jilling Estate has been nurtured by the Lall Family for over half a century. The family has almost single-handedly, with the help of local village-folk, preserved the estate’s nearly 100 acres of forests, farmlands, and orchards in an untouched manner.
Over the years, the family has planted a variety of trees and has closely guarded the forests - from wild fires and poachers alike - sometimes risking their own lives, so future generations may cherish what it feels like to be at Jilling.
The estate is around a 45-minute moderate trek from the road, with songbirds for company along the way.
An astronomer’s calling, a bird-watcher’s paradise, and a haven for dog lovers, the family has six dogs, which also double up as watchdogs for the estate. In addition, the estate has its own cattle used for ploughing the terraces, producing fresh milk, and providing organic manure for the fields.
The fresh home-cooked meals comprise of estate-grown seasonal vegetables, fruits, home dairy produce, and meats from the local village.
Whether it is the pristine views of the Nanda Devi, the smoke-scented bucket baths, a leopard sighting, or listening to tales over a cup of tea while spending time with the Lall Family, Jilling is nothing, but a home away from home.
We welcome you to come be a part of our humble life in the hills.
