Venkateswara Swamy Temple located at Jillelaguda, Hyderabad, has many salient features. Over 500-yrs old temple has the Moola Viraat (Presiding Deity) in unique style and form. It has the tale of Matsya Avatara Vishnu, the body of Lord Venkateswara and the head in the form of Lingam (Lord Shiva). The moola viraat itself represents the Advaita Philosophy of Hinduism and the unity and integrity of Shaivism and the Vaishnavism. Due to this the temple is also known as Harihara Kshetram.

Another significance of this temple is -- the Presiding Deity of the temple is Swayambhu Vigraham. No one was installed the idol but emerged itself from the earth.

The greatest significance of Jillelaguda Venkateshwara Temple is -- the entrance of the temple is in the North direction. Vaikunta Ekadasi is the only occasion when devotees visit Vishnu temples (Vaishnavalayams) from the northern entrance. It is known as Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam. But the temple itself faced in Northern direction, devotees can visit Venkateshwara swamy from northern entrance daily.

Celebrations during Dhanurmasam, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Unjal seva on Shravana nakshatram in each month, 9-day Brahmotsavams in Vaishakha masam (begins on Shukla Paksha Ashtami), Maha Shivaratri and Shayana Ekadasi (Tholi Ekadashi) are the major celebrations at Jillelaguda Venkateshwara Swamy Temple in Hyderabad.
