Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pfukhro Mao

Jnv Pfukhro Mao is one of the nine Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya established on nine different district of Manipur. It is situated on the hills of Pfukhro Village,Mao.It is run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, New Delhi, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, Government of India.The Samiti is further sub-divided into regions and JNV Pfukhro Mao comes under the Shillong region which is the operating centre for all the JNVs in the Northeastern India.As other JNVs, it is fully residential and co-educational school affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, with classes from VI to XII. JNVs are specifically tasked with finding talented children in rural areas of India and providing them with an education equivalent to the best residential school system, without regard to their family's socio-economic condition.JNVs exist all over India, with the exception of Tamil Nadu. There are approximately 596 JNVs across India (one school per district) as on 2014.HistoryThe Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located at Pfukhro Mao PO- Mao District- Senapati, Manipur. The school was established in year 1987. It is a Co-educational school and offers education in English medium,running under the aegis of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.LocationIt is loacated on the absolute border of Manipur and Nagaland few metres ahead of Nagaland Border.The Locality is surrounded by Various hill ranges and its richness of flora and fauna.The whole campus is surrounded by forest providing a perfect place for meditation and school activities without any external Disturbances. Assam Rifle camp is just above the school compound.
