Janwaar Castle

Janwaar Castle is a skatepark in the small village of Janwaar in rural Madhya Pradesh. It was founded in early 2015 by Ulrike Reinhard. With her own money and with the help of her network and many of her friends she raised the money to build the skatepark, which is now well-known under the name of Janwaar Castle.

12 skateboarders from 7 nations came to help and Shyamendra Singh, a local from this area, provided access to the land the park is built on.

The vision of Janwaar Castle is a decentralized model which is open for everyone to join – as long as the goal to uplift the lives of the villagers, especially those of the kids, is shared.

Anveer Metha was our first volunteer from India in November 2015 – he just returned in mid January to be permanently with us. Mannan Gupta joined Ulrike in May 2016. Since then he is driving the community development in the village itself forward. The three together, Ulrike, Anveer and Mannan, are the people holding the vision and mission of Janwaar Castle alive.
