Introduction

In this 21st century current world context, every single sphere of life is highly influenced by the ever advancing charisma of science and technology. Life is getting more competitive & programmed day by day. Hence, current trend is to groom up young people of today to meet the needs of tomorrow with strong moral and effective intellectual outlook. To meet this goal, new thoughts & technological advancements are being incorporated in the educational system of different countries of the world.

Nevertheless, no real progress is made in the educational system of independent Bangladesh over the years. Our education system is still based on age-old ineffective tradition of passing exams through memorizing tutor-prepared or cheap-note book-produced answer sheets. Our students are being crippled by campus violence in the name of student politics, moral degradation and extreme dependence on commercial coaching centres.

Higher secondary study of 2-year period is regarded as the gateway to higher & specialized study. But disappointingly enough, due to lack of planned study programme and sound environment, students waste their extremely valuable period with sheer negligence. Hence, after passing HSC, a substantial number of students fail to get access to higher studies. Sound supervision, proper guidance, morally & technologically developed modern & goal-oriented study environment at this period can guarantee students to move along the right way in pursuit of brighter future.

The introduction of modernized scientific education blended with good moral values is indispensable in place of existing colonial system of education. Jalalabad College, Sylhet has been established in Sylhet, the north-eastern divisional city of Bangladesh, well-known for the great saint Hazrat Shahjalal (R), with a view to nurturing contemporary students to get them well-equipped with the skill & moral values to meet the challenges of the days ahead.
