Indigenous Culture Studies

Under the School of Culture Studies, the Center for Indigenous Culture Studies (CICS) was established in July 2010 with the vision to equip students with knowledge of Indigenous People and their culture in global context. The center aims not only to understand the indigenous way of life, but also the contemporary issues of practical significance like economic and social development, the environment, education, health and human rights etc. The center attempts to engage with the marginal situation of Indigenous and tribal people in different parts of the world and their everyday encounters wth various life challenges. The center as part of School of Culture Studies envisions a culture studies encompassing the society and culture of all kind with a special focus on Indigenous and Tribal People of the world.
