What is 5S?
.5S stands for first alphabet of the following Japanese words Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke.
Seiri - Sort-out Separate required items from unwanted items. Keep only what is immediately required at the work place.
Seiton - Workplace Organization Organize the workplace so that required items can be easily and quickly accessed. A place for everything and everything in its place
Seiso - Clean Sweeping, washing and cleaning everything around working area regularly
Seiketsu - Standardise Ensure a standard for the 3S and formalize the same; this manual is a representation of the standardization process
Shitsuke - Training & Discipline Everyone is aware, understands, obeys and practices the rules in the work place.
5S is a simple but effective method to organize and maintain the work place activity.
