This is one of the institutions established by Dr. Hermann Gmeiner, who, after the Second World War, was engaged in youth welfare work in 1946, when he was studying to become a paediatrician. He formed the SOS concept with the simple idea of providing abandoned and orphaned children a valuable substitute for their families.
This is the first Hermann Gmeiner School set up in India, so it has several qualities that someone studying here can really appreciate. A day-scholar and boarding school, it has excellent facilities besides studying in terms of computer, physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics and geography laboratories, an updated library half the size of the auditorium, and facilities for a large spectrum of physical activities for physical education.
