Hanuman Tilla also called Hanuman Dham is believed to have been built by the great warrior Bhim, one of the Pandavas in great Indian epic Mahabharat.
Another myth describes Shamli is the place where Lord Krishna had a night halt during his last attempt to avoid Mahabharat. Hence was named after him as “Shyama vali" later “Shyama” and finally to be known as Shamli.
According to legend, during the times of Ramayan, while Lord Veer Hanuman was taking the whole Dronachal Parvat with ‘Sanjeevali Booti’ from Himalay to Lanka for saving life of Lakshman, a piece of hill to be fallen off at this place which is now called ‘Hanuman Tilla’.
