More about Gurukul Matindu

Gurukul Matindu is one of the oldest educational institutes of India. The brainchild of Ch. Peeru Singh, a reformist, freedom fighter and Arya Samajee of village Matindu, district Sonepat of Haryana, India, it was established in 1914. During his freedom-struggle related activities he got an inspiration to spread education in the rural areas. With this vision in mind, he with his younger Brother Ch. Shiv Karan started this Gurukul to spread education against social evils and also to produce freedom fighters for the freedom struggle movement of India. Gradually the institution kept growing and generating many freedom fighters, martyrs and responsible citizens for the country.
The foundation stone of this historic institution was laid by Swami Shraddhnand, a great educationist, reformist and Arya Samajee of India. Since then, this institution is providing philanthropic services to the society in the field of education.
In the supervision of Brig. Satya Dev, chairperson, Shiksha Prishad Gurukul Matindu modernized this Gurukul into Gurukul Sr. Sec. School, affiliated to C.B.S.E. (No. 530725). Now this Gurukul has strong infrastructure and modern facilities according to the requirements of educational set up of the present generation. Blend of traditional values and modern outlook make this institution distinctive.
This institution is spread over 27 acres of land and is located on the banks of a canal. Ample greenery and natural environment of the Gurukul provides the best atmosphere for learning in a peaceful and harmonious manner. Old historical campus of the school still preserves the history of this organization. Side by side, new buildings with up to date set up have been developed with the help of society members’ donations. New building for senior secondary wing was inaugurated by Ch. Bhupender Singh Hooda, Chief Minister Haryana on Nov. 22, 2009(celebrated as Gaurav Diwas). Recently, the foundation stone for the new building of the primary wing has been laid down by Mrs. Asha Hooda, vice-president, Haryana Council for Child Welfare, Haryana on Jan. 19, 2013.
Gurukul Matindu was registered as a public charitable society called ‘Shiksha Parishad Gurukul Matindu’ in the year 1967-68 under Society Act- 1860 and was allotted Registration No. 30 by the Registrar of Society, Haryana. Shiksha Parishad Gurukul Matindu is a non-profit, non-proprietary charitable society committed to excellence in the field of education.
