Gulmarg Snowboard Instructors School

The most essential things about this project:

Purpose : To promote the pratice of snowboarding in Himalaya

Main goal: To develop the practice and teaching of snowboarding in Gulmarg (Kashmir, India).


Gulmarg is the unique ski resort in the Himalayas where you can access to a huge backcountry place and to some nice groomed slopes by the highest gondolas of the world: 3950m (14000ft) and by a chair-lift.
It is located northwest of India, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir , only a few kilometers from the border with Pakistan.


Objectives :

- Main objective for 2016/17: To create and to develop a free training center for local snowboard instructors and guides.

Multiple sub-objectives: To develop skills in terms of...
- technique
- methodology
- pedagogy
- avalanches and off-piste
- videos analysis
- and more, all depending of what locals really need


- Secondary objective: Bringing together all the actors of the snowboard scene in Gulmarg (tourists, instructors, rental shops…) during a free weekly meeting where we could promote snowboarding by analysis videos of everyone who would like to, by doing equipment maintenance and sharing about our passion… and other ideas you can bring!


Secondary goal: To develop the practice of more extreme snowboarding activities in Himalaya.
