DEPARTMENT OF SANSKRIT AND RESEARCH CENTER
Department of Sanskrit of Govt: Brennen College, Thalassery is one of the oldest Departments of the college. This department was established in 1890 and B.A course in Sanskrit was commenced in 1968. This department also offers coaching for second language papers for B.A, BSc and B.B.A students and for subsidiary papers for B.A Malayalam and B.A. Hindi students. Besides Sanskrit papers are also taught for M.A. Malayalam and M.A. Hindi students of this college. Altogether, 200 students are studying in this department. At present, 5 faculties are working in this department.
The department is also a Research Center in Sanskrit of the Kannur University. A U.G.C Major Research Project was commenced in February 2012 under the Principal Investigation of Dr. P.Manoharan, Reader in Sanskrit (Retd), Payyannur College, University of Kannur.
The department has a Library having around 3600 books. There are many old, rare and out of print books in our collection.
