Government College of Technology

Coimbatore people are familiar with a bus stop called Hope College Bus Stop in Peelamedu. But many do not know that where that Hope College is and do not know it is the old name of Government College of Technology, established in 1945.

The legacy of the institution for since its establishment is phenomenal. 45 hectares of sprawling campus occupying the entire stretch of Thadagam road for nearly 2 kms is its spread. The foundation stone for the main building was laid by the then Governor Shri Sri Prakasa, opened by Dr.S.Radhakrishnan, a great Teacher. The institution has produced around one lakh Engineers to this country. The institution has produced great IPS and IAS Officers who are presently holding key positions at the State and National level. It has produced entrepreneurs who have emerged as Competitors to Bill Gates at the Global level. The strength of the institution is its strong Alumni network. Any old students entering the campus feels proud, happy and nostalgic about the institution which taught them the ABCs of Engineering.
