Government College, Chamba

A new era in the field of education dawned in 1958 with the opening of Government College in Chamba Town. This was the only institute for higher education in the entire District during those days. Since then this College has added benefit added many feathers in its cap. It has provided Doctors, Engineers, Educationist, IAS, IPS, HAS and officers in various other spheres who have excelled in their respective fields bringing laurels to this Institute as well as to the entire is Chamba district. We have been provided with a new college building in Sultanpur, which was dedicated to the public on 15 January 2015 by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Raja Virbhadra Singh where all the UG Degree Courses are being run today where as IGNOU Centre, PG classes in 5 disciplines and the self - finance courses like BBA, BCA and PGDCA are being run in old college Complex at Akhand Chandi Palace itself. These courses have been functioning in this institution since: 1) College became Functional on May, 1958. 2) Arts - 1958. 3) Science - 1962-63. 4) Commerce - 1982-83. 5) M.A. Economic - 1993. 6) M.A. History - 2005-06. 7) M.A. English - 2006-07. 8) BBA - 2008. 9) BCA - 2008. 10) PGDCA - 2010. 11) M.A. Political Science - 2014. 12) M.A. Hindi - 2014.
