K.L.S. Gogte Institute of Technology (Kannada: ಗೋಗಟೆ ಇನ್ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಟೆಕ್ನಾಲಜಿ ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ Hindi: गोगटे प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान बेलगावी) is an autonomous engineering college affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University. The college campus is situated at Belgaum-Goa Highway also known as Khanapur Road. It was established in 1979 to meet the growing demand for technically trained manpower for industrial growth of the country. Gogte Institute of Technology, was conferred with the award of "Excellent Technical Education Institute in Karnataka" at National Karnataka Education Summit & Awards 2014 held on 9 August 2014 at Visvesvaraya Technological University’s Auditorium at Bangalore. This award was conferred on GIT on account of the good institute profile, academics and students performance over the years.Industrialist Balkrishna "Raosaheb" Gogte donated a sum of Rs. 10 Lakhs to the Karnataka Law Society for the financing of the new Engineering College. The college was in turn named the Gogte Institute of Technology in his honor.Technical departmentsDepartment of Civil EngineeringHOD- Dr. G. S. Manjunath. Started in 1979, the department offers a 4-year bachelor's degree Course in Civil Engineering and a master's degree Programme with Structural Engineering specialization. The department offers materials testing facilities and technical consultancy services. Courses offered: Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engg) and Master of Technology (Structural Engineering). Facilities: Highway and Concrete Materials Testing Lab, Geo-Technical Engineering Lab, Environmental Engineering Lab, Basic Materials Testing Lab, Hydraulics Lab and Survey and Computational Section. Highly Qualified Professors with years of experience.
