More about Global Skills Network

Global Skills Network (GSN), an initiative of Wadhwani Foundation aims to revolutionize skill development by leveraging technology & program management of government initiatives to create millions of highly-skilled knowledge workers globally.

GSN has launched 'Race to A Job' program which embraces technology as an enabler to jobs-driven and learner-centric training, both in India and the U.S.

Race to a Job (RTAJ) – India

Government of India aims to impart skill training to 500 million people by 2022, a mammoth task by any means. To realize such scale, effective use of technology is necessary and skill training needs to be mainstreamed into school and higher education system. In collaboration with government, industry & academia, the Foundation seeks to implement this twin-pronged strategy to enable scale, quality and consistency for high-demand, entry and middle level jobs.

As a driver of curriculum & content creation coupled with program management, RTAJ-India aims to transform government and industry's job training programs into a learner centric, multi-media and online curriculum by deploying its learning platform in schools, community colleges and industry.

Race to a Job (RTAJ) – U.S.

American youth face a persistently high unemployment rate. For young adults, this is even worse at almost twice the normal unemployment among youth. Even though a recovering economy offers an over 3.7M open jobs, there is a widening skills gap for young Americans between the skills possessed and those required by industry. The Wadhwani Foundation through its Skills Development Network and Wadhwani Center for Research and Policy (WCRP) has launched in the U.S - ‘Race to a Job (RTAJ)’, with the intent to scale to other regions of the world, in due course.

RTAJ–U.S is building a network of national and global partners in innovating towards delivery of workforce education and up-scaling impact through community colleges, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), research & national bodies and industry partners.

Global Learning Platform

Traditional skill-generating methods have not been effective both from job-readiness of the graduates or delivering the requisite scale. Hence, Wadhwani Foundation is harnessing increased adoption of technology in traditional education & training, supported by a next generation, open-access technology solution led global learning platform. This platform seeks to transform student learning & teacher training, and facilitate RTAJ endeavors in both India & U.S.

RTAJ, hence, is transforming the skill development process & classical classroom education into learner centric engagement models like ‘how to’ videos, games, simulations, interactive learning, digital assessments and peer learning. This engenders high quality, uniform, rapidly scalable and standardized content, which empowers the learner (with teacher becoming a facilitator/coach) through adaptive, personalized and differentiated learning in a flipped classroom model.

RTAJ is also looking at student counseling and jobs exchange in the future. An online portal for course delivery (http://rtaj.wadhwani-foundation.org) providing access to cutting edge e-learning modules is continuously developing industry and NSQF based competencies.
