Gender Resource Centre

Gender Resource Centre popularly known as GRC, is an initiative aimed to provide technical support to the existing women empowerment programmes and schemes being implemented by the state in collaboration and coordination with various departments of the government of Bihar. It has been established at the state headquarter (Patna) bythe Women Development Corporation, Department of Social Welfare, Government of Bihar.
Gender Resource Centre is envisaged to provide all necessary support in Gender main streaming within the state, specifically in the areas of advocacy, innovative research studies, creation of data base, communications-IEC/BCC, creation of training pool and acting as a training and capacity building resource. It will also provide technical know-how to support implementation process and enable effective monitoring and evaluation systems in the state. GRC will work in close coordination with various Departments of state Government, CSOs, INGOs, academic Institutions and international agencies, research organizations and other bilateral and multilateral organizations working on Gender just. It will further strengthen strategies to support state departments for engaging with various stakeholders to promote women empowerment schemes and collecting relevant data on women related issues. GRC will work to enhancethe reach, capacity and access of women and girls to such schemes. GRC will aim to sensitize and facilitate in planning, implementing and evaluating Gender sensitive programs, policies, laws and schemes.
GRC will co-ordinate the efforts of different sections of society and the government to make a noticeable difference in women’s lives in the state and will serve as a nodal agency for all Gender related initiatives. GRC will act as a knowledge hubon Gender programming and budgeting and will share them across organizations in order to make their efforts in the sector more streamlined, efficient and effective.
Integrate research; capacity building and policy planningon Gender will be the core areas of GRC. Therefore it would undertake research, impact assessment studies of policies, programmes and schemes of the Government, and liaise with existing structures/institutions relating to women’s empowerment. The GRC will also device media strategies to highlight and create awareness regarding the programmes and schemes of the Government to focus on retrograde social practices affecting the society. It will assist the Bihar State Women Development Corporation, department of Social Welfare, Government of Bihar and work in synergy with concerned departments in planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing the programmer relating to women’s empowerment.
