More about Gear Spot

Hola!!

Personally, I'd like to see a lot more women on geared bikes with helmets on, cruising along, since the road belongs to everybody ;) , doesn't it?

Well, a lot of female friends of mine have expressed their desire to learn how to ride a geared bike. But, since I was busy in pursuit of a Commercial Piloting License (CPL) in Canada, I had to keep this idea at bay. Anyways, Thank you all ladies! It's due to your continual persistence that the genesis of 'Gear Spot' has taken shape and now this is here to stay!

I started riding 15 years ago, and have ridden with various biking groups across the country. I'm also a Core committee Member and the only female rider on the board for 'Hyderabad United Bikers' (HuB), which has various riding clubs in Hyderabad under its wing.

Details of this one of it's kind initiative, and also a start of a movement in the country-

Place - A convenient place in the city, where we could meet and start learning. A flat ground or a road minus potholes is ideal to start out with, but you know it's difficult to find ;) . Eventually, we would be riding in traffic, climbs and slopes.

Time - The best part being the timing of the classes are totally flexible. It depends on our understanding, whether its late nights or early mornings or during the day. There are no fixed timings as such.

Fees - 8 classes for an hour each, the total amount the trainee would be paying is 6,000 rs. The payment to be done on the first day of the training.

Bikes - An Rx 100, Honda Unicorn and a Royal Enfield 500 cc.
The classes would start on an Rx 100 since its light weight and easy to manoeuvre around. Also, any other geared bike that you possess and wish to bring along.

Basic Requirement- The trainee to be a woman ;) . Yes, a lot of men have approached me to teach them riding. Sorry male folks!!!

1) The trainee needs to be over 18 years of age
2) Know how to ride a non-geared bike.

If you are ready to get started, just drop in a message here/ inbox with your location, probable free timing and a tentative idea on when you would like to start, and we'll take it from there!

Thanks there! More power to women !

Jai Hind!
