Gaighat is an assembly constituency in Muzaffarpur district in the Indian state of Bihar.OverviewAs per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 88 Gaighat (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Gaighat and Bandra community development blocks; Katra, Sonpur, Berai South, Dhanaur, Madhepura and Shivdaspur gram panchayats of Katra CD Block.Gaighat (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 15 Muzaffarpur (Lok Sabha constituency).Election results1977-2010In the 2010 state assembly elections, Veena Devi of BJP won the Gaighat assembly seat defeating her nearest rival Maheshwar Prasad Yadav of RJD. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Maheshwar Prasad Yadav of RJD defeated Ashok Kumar Singh of JD(U) in October 2005 and February 2005. Veerendra Kumar Singh of JD(U) defeated Devendra Prasad Yadav of RJD in 2000. Maheshwar Prasad Yadav of JD defeated Anand Mohan of BPP in 1995.
