Ferozepur Literati

Ferozepore is a historical town in Punjab, abutting the present day Indo-Pakistan border. Its rich cultural history is that of heroic valour and sacrifice, pre and post independence. The saga of its brave martyrs is etched in stone, chronicled in the many memorials and museums dotting the town.From the Hussainiwalah Shaheed Smarak, to the lofty Saragarhi Memorial. Owing to its strategic position of being in the northwest of the country, its inclusion in many of the geo-political conflicts down the ages, has been inevitable. A martial heritage that bears a mark on the modern-day Ferozepur. Being the largest garrison in the British Raj, there are remnants of the past of the yore, the military air strip to the cemetery to the some of the oldest churches and bungalows. From Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s hideout during his exile to the many military expeditions in the area, the town is the hallmark of a brave history and is any lover of heritage historical buff’s dream come true! A walk in the by lanes of the bustling bazaars through the many ancient gates such as the Delhi Darwaza, will transport you into times forgotten.

With an aim to continue the dialogue on heritage conservation, respect of the past and cast Ferozepur legacy as a living one, Ferozepur Literati is organizing it’s first Literary & Heritage Festival on 25th February 2017.Stalwarts from the field of Law, Literature, History, Public life and Journalism, Army, BSF and the Civil Services, will share a common platform in an engaging, through provoking and invigorating literary dialogue in an open Forum. With eminent citizens from the city and the region in attendance along with informed audience – the event promises to be a vibrant one. Participants will get to rub shoulders with the Who’s Who of the city and the nation.Come revel in the abundance of heritage in each nook and cranny of this land of Martyrs where every stone tells a story of sacrifice and valour-Legacy Beckons to you!
