Faculty of Fisheries of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University – the only institute of higher education in fisheries in the north-west part of the country has started its journey since 2005 with departments of Fisheries Biology and Genetics, Aquaculture, Fisheries Management, and Fisheries Technology.

There are numerous fisheries resources in the region, and the research and education of the Faculty can flourish their exploitation and better management. Students have to complete a total of 163 credit hours to complete undergraduate study. Till now three batches have been graduated from the faculty, and another five batches are on the way to the journey of graduation.

Faculty of Fisheries has four Departments.

The emergence of sustainable livelihood in the developing countries, like in Bangladesh is inevitable to fight against undernourishment and poverty. Aquaculture can play an important role to meet up this undernourishment and poverty. In this milieu, Aquaculture department was established in 2005 under the faculty of Fisheries.

Department of Fisheries Management, one of the foremost department under the Faculty of Fisheries of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur, Bangladesh was propitiously launched its academic activity since January, 2005.

Department of Fisheries Biology and Genetics is one of the core departments under the Faculty of Fisheries to introduce education and research in Ichthyology, Aquatic Biodiversity, Genetics, Fish Breeding and Hatchery Management.

Fisheries Technology is one of the flourishing department in the Faculty of Fisheries, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur, Bangladesh was auspiciously launched its academic activity since 2005.
