ENVIS Centre on Biogeochemistry was started in the year 1994 at School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi with the financial aid from the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of India. The Centre is functioning as a partner in the Environmental Information System (ENVIS) network spread all over the country, with the focal point at the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), New Delhi.
The major topics covered / to be covered by the ENVIS Centre at SES, JNU on the thematic area are Biogeochemistry of Rivers, climatology, ecosystems, Geobiology, Biogeochemical cycles, Biogeochemical Modelling, Pollution and Waste, Biogeochemical Metabolomics, Genomics, Transcriptomics and Proteomics and important national/international activities/projects/developments, information resources (websites, journals/books and databases) and the organized/forthcoming events (conferences/workshops/training programmes etc.).
