DSP Employees' Co-Operative Society Limited.

Established in the year 1957, DSP Employees' Co-Operative Society Ltd. has been a live partner of Durgapur Steel Plant creating new milestones in the domain of Co-Operative Society movement for employees of Durgapur Steel Plant.
Being an urban rationing area DSP authority interested to provide ration commodities (pds) to its employees of it's township through co-operative sector. In this situation the then HSL authority started the consumer co-op namely “dsp employees’ co-op society limited” to distribute the rationing item of W.B govt. to the employees by some outlets of co-op society. After few years HSL authority wanted to continue the society an autonomous body from amongst workers of HSL.
The then authority provides the man power and transport for the smooth running of the society. After some time the society made an arrangement to sale grocery items, books, textile goods and others and engaged some society workers for this purpose. Hire purchase facilities also introduce at that time.
In the year 1984 the Board of Directors introduces the dealership of H.P Gas. Followed by in the year 1991 the departmental store “SAMAVAYIKA” opened. This was the first concept of self service counter in Burdwan, Bankura, Purulia and Birbhum District.
The society has been rewarded from W.B govt. Dept of co-operation several times. W.B Govt, D.S.P also the share holder of this society.
Our Vision :
'Growth' is a word easy to pronounce but hard to achieve and not easy to define. As Durgapur Steel Plants operates under the aegis of Steel Authority of India Ltd. which is a public organization, so it is easy to understand that it has high responsibilities towards it's employees and any other strata of the society effected directly or indirectly. Durgapur Steel Plant has direct stakes in this organization. We operate involving the grass-root level areas which touch the day to day life of common men, Our Employees - Our Members. Food, Fuel, Consumer durable goods and edible items are the first and foremost requirement of an employee to be fulfilled if the employer demands an optimum level output on daily basis. That is where we step in, that is where our role plays the vital part of an employee's life.
