Many, many thousands are homeless in India. A majority of them are unwell. Their average income is around 100 rupees per person per day. Slum evictions add to homeless. Lakhs have lost their homes to make space for construction projects.
The amount continues to swell with migrants coming in search of jobs. They contribute to India’s life and development with their labour. But they cannot afford to go to a doctor when unwell. Poor health shoves them deeper into poverty. Poverty is a cough that can, but won’t, go away.
