Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Md Abdul Bari of CPI(M) defeated Ekramul Hoque Biswas of Congress in 1987, A.K.M.Hazekul Alam of IUML in 1982 and Ekramul Hoque Biswas of Congress in 1977.
