The differently-abled have few options when it comes to earning a living. Once they finish schooling, many of them are not prepared to deal with the challenges that life throws at them. Founded in 1999, Diya Foundation, Bangalore, trains them in various activities that help them to face life’s challenges in a mature way.

A vocational training centre and a registered charitable trust, Diya Foundation provides them with training and employment opportunities.At Diya Foundation, the differently-abled individuals are trained to make chocolates, candles, diyas, greeting cards and paper bags to name a few.

Post training, they are recruited by Diya Innovation, an offshoot of Diya Foundation,wherein they work on various orders. Here they begin to earn a salary based on their performance output and understand the importance of work.

Over the years, Diya has succeeded in building a brand name for all its products. The candles, chocolates and diyas made by the differently-abled here are not only popular during the festive seasons of Deepavali and Christmas, but the entire year around.
