Department of Petroleum Engineering is a branch of Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering & Technology.Department of Petroleum Engineering was established in 2009 as a part of Dibrugarh University's program of creating a hub for engineering studies in upper assam.It provides Bachelor of Technology degree in Petroleum Technology.
It is one of the 8 colleges providing Petroleum Engineering degree in India.With a total intake capacity of 60 students per class ,it has a total capacity of 240 students.Students are admitted through Assam CEE and AIEEE scores,it consist of students from every part of the region.

Petroleum engineering is an engineering discipline concerned with the activities related to the production of hydrocarbons, which can be either crude oil or natural gas. Subsurface activities are deemed to fall within the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry, which are the activities of finding and producing hydrocarbons.
