ABOUT

‘Dakshinam’ literally stands for the ‘Southern purity’, for it was conceived with the intention of sharing the beauty of handcrafted sarees from the Southern states with the rest of the country. The idea took seed in a humble shop setup before it attained a formal brand identity in 2012.

OUR MISSION

We’ve begun this journey with an enduring purpose of preserving the local craft, establishing an active collaboration with the weavers and creating a platform to make available the beautiful handcrafted products. Our decisions and actions are weighed against the standard of originality and quality. Also, with the new Make In India campaign in full swing, initiated by our honorable Prime Minister, we wish to empower the weaving hands.

OUR VISION

We envisage nurturing a healthy, active network between customers and craftsmen by providing a platform, accessible worldwide, to launch the Indian handcrafted sarees. Since our approach is bottom-up, we promote a working environment which is inspiring and gives people the opportunity to explore their potential.

PRODUCT

Dakshinam sources handcrafted sarees from over 28 communities that have preserved the art of processing natural silk/cotton fibers and employ the traditional practice in principle, unique to a particular type of saree. The material palette encompasses silk, chiffon, georgette, cotton, crepe, cotton-silk, usually featuring not more than two colours in a saree. The products are available at two stores in Kanpur, and one in Lucknow and Jaipur each. We hereby declare All Rights Reserved for the products displayed on the page.
