Chilka “the nature’s gift to Earth” is a brackish water lake/ lagoon in eastern INDIA at State of Odisha, spread over 1100 square kilometre adjoining to 3 districts (Puri. Khordha & Ganjam). It creates a prominent landmark, on satellite image of India, as the second largest lagoon of the World.

It is located in between 19°28' and 19°54' North latitude 85°05' and 85°38' East longitudes. The eastern and north- eastern shores of the lagoon are essentially flat with various rivulet delta and sand spits and at Magar Mukh(Sea Mouth) near Satapada, it joins/meets with Bay of Bengal, whereas the south and south-west are surrounded by the Eastern Ghat Hills.

The Chilka Lagoon supports more than a million Resident, Migratory ( in winter i.e. Month of Nov. to Feb.) and Aquatic Birds, more than hundred fifty Irrawaddy Dolphins, 225 species of Fish, Prawn & Crabs and unlimited FLORA AND FAUNA ( throughout the year) and dotted by Nature with many islands.
