Chanderiyaan is a digital window to showcase the magic and beauty of Chanderi weaving in its multifaceted hues to the world outside. It is a platform to share the brilliance of craftsmanship of the Chanderi weavers in District Ashok Nagar of Madhya Pradesh in Central India. It is a platform to share the richness of weaving and design patterns evolved through many centuries in this weaving town with its own historical dynamics and stories to reveal.

Chanderiyaan.net is serving to meet the demand and supply chain for the unique Chanderi weaving products. This platform of the weavers, for the weavers and by the weavers, is managed by a network of weavers self help groups through a common platform - Chanderi Weavers Resource Integrated Information Resource Centre, which is an initiative of Media Lab Asia & Digital empowerment Foundation with support of Dept of IT, MCIT, GOI. The objective is to see that the weavers of Chanderi find a sound economic sustenance and dignified way of living for themselves and their future generations through the age old weaving skills and product support thus serving the demand of the market.

Chanderiyaan.net is managed and maintained by Digital Empowerment Foundationthrough its Chanderi Weavers Integrated Information Resource Center. Chanderiyaan is an initiative of DEF & MLAsia to benefit the weavers through SHG members who are associated with the Chanderiyaan Weavers Integrated Information resource Center. Chanderiyaan is an initiative where all the proceeds of the sale of the products made by the Chanderi weavers go back to the center to directly benefit the producers and DEF does not keep any proceed, sales or revenue. In the meanwhile, DEF & MLAsia is trying to create a separate legal entity for Chanderiyaan owned and managed by the Weavers and producers along with other direct stakeholders. As soon as the Chanderiyaan legal entity will be formed, it will be mentioned here, post which DEF will seize its managing responsibility.
