Mumbai today is nothing like the Bombay of the old. Yet, the rich old heritages of the
yesterdays linger on in many ways. It is a happy amalgamation of the past, the
present and the future. The soon to be launched, Bombay Vintage is a retro bar and
diner that celebrates these old roots of Bombay, along with the eclectic tastes, of
modern day Mumbai.
Bombay Vintage, to be opened officially on January 14, 2016 is a new restaurant that
brings together ace restaurateur Suresh Bhandaary of Bollywood Mischief
Hospitality Worldwide Pvt. Ltd and the culinary skills of Chef PradipRozario. Yes this
is the same duo that brought the original fusion food mecca Kurry Club to India, a
pioneer in “Fusion” food in Mumbai.
Everything in this bar and restaurant harks back to a fusion of Mumbai tradition.The
décor is old world featuring a lot of old artifacts, and wall hangings. The seating is
spacious and the restaurant caters to 70 covers at a time.
The food is served in dabbas that hark back to the heritage of Mumbai’s ubiquitious
“dabbawalas”, while the food is a fusion of traditional Mumbai food combined with
continental style cooking and servings.
So you can indulge your palate in exotic dishes like Sabudana Croquettes, or a
Vegetable Quesadilla, PavBhaji Sandwich, Chicken and Mutton MisalPav, English
PavBhaji, Breakfast Appam with Fried Egg Base, Chicken/ Mutton Mince, the Bombay
Coast Burger with a Crumb Fried Seafood Mélange, Cajun Spiced Chicken Pizza or the
Lamb Bolognaise Pizza ,BassaInvoltini featuring Basa in Gassi Sauce, Tapioca
Risotto!
The bar is a great watering hole that offers super pricing – famously echoing Suresh
Bhandary’s claim – That this is the one Bar in Mumbai where the Happy Hours
do not end!The drink menu features all time favorites like Martinis, Singapore
Slings, Margrita, Mojito, and Bloddy Mary. The bar offers a wide range of Beers in
pints or buckets of 5 and spirits that range from single malts to IMFL. There are also
vodka, rum, tequila, gin and liqueurs, wines, sangrias, and non-alcoholic delights.
The bar menu and cocktails are inspired and created by renowned mixologist
and F&B Consultant Naveen Deju Kotyankar, who has left his mark across
signature restaurants and bars of Mumbai including Kurry Klub, Lagerbay,
Café Zoe, the Pali Village cafe etc.
Located strategically on the Colaba circle opposite to Regal Cinema, Bombay Vintage
is a welcome addition to city side dining. It features eclectic music, with the DJ
accepting requests, while featuring its signature melodies and beats.
Bombay Vintage is a place for the young, as well as the not so young – offering a
delight that bridges generations. While the not so young, can look around and
reminiscence of the Bombay that was, the young can groove to the beats, and the
fusion food, and classic and modern alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
