BMIET is located in Sonepat ( Delhi NCR ) , behind Fazilpur power sub-station, in picturesque surroundings at a distance of about 16 km from Delhi-Singhu Border, Sonepat (in the National Capital Region). Sonepat means in sanskrit language 'suvarna prastha' or golden place. One popular tradition avers that this is one of the five prasthas or patas viz. Indraprastha, Sonepat, Panipat, Baghpat, Talpat. Mentioned in "MAHABHARTA" FOR WHICH Yuddhishthira DEMANDED from Duryodhana. Another tradition ascribes its foundation to raja Soni (13th descendant from Arjuna, a brother of Yuddhishthira).
