The landmark of Kasaragod district, Bekal, lies at the southwestern tip of India, is a serene village famed for its sea-kissed forts, majestic hills, rivers and unique cultural tradition. To preserve Bekal’s natural vegetation and pristine charm, the government of Kerala started the Bekal Resorts Development Corporation Ltd (BRDC), a prestigious project to make Bekal an international standard ‘Beach Tourist Destination’. The extremely scenic landscape, extensive beaches, numerous estuaries and backwaters and unexplored environs qualified Bekal as a potential site for an international tourist destination.
