The Borail Wildlife Sanctuary is an important Protected Area of Assam having an area of 32,625.5 ha (326.25 sq km) and situated in the Borail Hill Range on the transitional zone between Indian sub-region and Indo-Chinese sub region. The Borail Wildlife Sanctuary is the only protected area in the Barak valley of Assam with rich biodiversity and habitat for wildlife;

The Borail Wildlife Sanctuary supports 19 species of mammals, 7 species of primates, 250 species of avifauna, 23 species of amphibians and 43 species of reptiles which are globally rare, vulnerable, and endangered species; the biodiversity of Borail Wildlife Sanctuary comprises of 81 species of trees and 8 species of bamboo and several species of herbs and shrubs. The sanctuary has immense research, recreational and educational values;

The Barail Range has some beautiful hilltops and waterfalls. Durbintilla is one such point located at a height of over 1000Mtrs. Capable legs can scale this height and experience the unique view of the entire cachar valley.
