Bansdroni

Bansdroni (Bengali: বাঁশদ্রোণী) is an eminent locality in South Kolkata. It is connected to the city with the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Road linking Garia in the south and Tollygunge in the North. The Kolkata Metro touches Bansdroni at the Masterda Surya Sen Metro Station.
Bansdroni used to be a port during the 17th century when the Adi Ganga was the main flow of the Ganges into the sea Bay of Bengal. Now it houses some important retail stores like Reliance Digital, Monte Carlo, LG Shoppe and others. This area holds the Bansdroni Police Station. There is also a church. Four schools, Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Holy Home, St.Mary's Church School and De Paul, are located here (the last two are catholic). It mainly is a residential area, with nearly every building a residential one. The Usha Fan Factories are located here.
