Baltistan Youth Alliance - BYA

Baltistan Youth Alliance (BYA) is a non-sectarian, non-political, non-profit making, Non-Governmental, youth centred campaign working for youth leadership development, good governance and social welfare of society since 2013 in Baltistan region.
The BYA –is a federation of Youth and Forum striving for Socio-Economic Change and Development in the region specifically the most potential group Youth. The BYA working with a vision of Youth Empowerment and Inclusion in Political System. The BYA is a Coalition of youth Organizations Advocating for the rights of the deprived segment (Youth) in Baltistan region.
The recent studies conducted in Pakistan by UNDP depicts that more than 60% of the total population of Pakistan comprise of young people aged (15-35). This young lot is deprived in terms of opportunities and role in the social as well as political system. The core mission of the BYA-Baltistan Youth Alliance is to strengthen and empower youth to drive positive social change in the society. To foster individual leadership BYA focuses on building self –awareness and humility, culture, context and rights of others. BYA emphasize on building connection, coalitions, consensus and alliances to create lasting positive change, while working with commitment to eliminate societal inequalities, discrimination and oppression.
BYA-since date of formation striving for youth empowerment and has successfully initiated different awareness raising campaigns, celebrated International Days like (Peace, Women Rights and Youth Day etc) and organized training workshops for improving leadership skills in youth. The BYA-has introduced a unique structure of Participatory and Revolving Leadership. It has an Advisory Council for strategic leadership and planning. The leadership revolve (Plan to Plan, Event to Event, and Campaign to Campaign) and each member of the Advisory Council get opportunity to demonstrate his/her leadership by leading team to execute a plan or organized an event. The basic philosophy is to engage each advisory council member as a leader and this revolving leadership idea elevates their motivation to strive for change and development with better spirit.
BYA also works with its member Youth Forums /Groups to build their Institutional Capacity to better design, manage and execute development ideas. The BYA explore capacity building initiatives for members as well as partner forums and improve the knowledge of the members about International Exchange Programs and International Training Opportunities. The Advisory Council members guide the other partner members in this regard.

Mission:
To bring about socio-economic changes by educating, engaging and empowering the youth through leadership skills and inclusion in the political system and build pressure to reshape policies to absorbed youth in decision making process (Economic, Social and Political Decisions)
Goals:
To achieve this mission, Baltistan Youth Alliance has the following GOALS/Targets:

1. Stimulate civil society to greater civic action and advocacy on behalf of Youth/Citizens and constituencies, and facilitate linkages with youth national and international level for better movements to raise “YOUTH VOICE”

2. Enhance the capacity of the partner Youth Forums and BYA-Members to present themselves and to access to the social and political decision making process.

3. Mobilize new Member and Forums and develop effective new approaches resource mobilization, including human resources, and material resources

4. Improve Youth access to, and greater use of, information and knowledge for more effective practice of civic action and local development.

5. To form a regional platform (Baltistan Youth Parliament) to provide the Young men and women and opportunity to demonstrate their leadership and to unlock their true potentials.
