Bakreswar Thermal Power Station (BKTPP) – 3 X 210 MW ( Phase-I) & 2X210 MW ( Phase-II)
Situated 12 Km from Suri, the chief Sub-divisional Town of Birbhum district, Bakreswar Thermal Power Project is just 260 Km away from Kolkata. The project has clear rail track access via Chinpai on the Andal-Sinthia Line of Eastern Railways.
In its first phase, three nos. units were commissioned within March 2001 and In second phase, two nos. 210 MW units were synchronized between December 2007 to March 2009.For the Mani Plant work was entrusted on turnkey basis to Itochu & BHEL and Larsen & Toubro was awarded the job of Coal Handling Plant.At present, Bakreswar Thermal Power Project is running with five operational units having total installed capacity of 1050 MW. Expansion of another 600 MW unit (sixth unit) has been envisaged for implementation during the Eleventh-Five-year Plan period.
