Traditional Assamese Jewellery is completely Handcrafted.The designs which are mostly inspired from the Nature,Birds,Cultures and other Traditional Motifs of ASsam are unique and Exclusive to the state and can be made only by the skilled craftsmen of Assam.Some of the Traditional Jewellery Designs are the LOKAPARO (fan-tailed Pigeon), JAPI, (traditional Assamese head-gear), DHOLBIRI (the traditional drum), DUGDUGI (the haert), JETHI POTA (lizard paws), JONBIRI(the crescent shaped moon) etc.
In ancient Assam Gold was preferebly used to make Jewelleries due to its abundance,but in present times Gold plated Silver Jewelleries are found to be the real replacement of Gold Jewelleries
