Welcome to the Animal Welfare and Rescue Efforts (AWARE) Foundation.

Around the year 2000, Genevieve realized her undying love for stray animals. In no time, this emotion became a passion and soon she had 5 abandoned stray animals as pets. Since she couldn't accommodate any more animals, she started feeding around 15 other stray animals in the vicinity.

In her life partner, Mr. Farhang Engineer, she found an equally vociferous animal lover and soon this couple sheltered and fed animals who were sick, under-nourished, disabled, abandoned or victims of road accidents.

Over the last few years, they were joined in their efforts by 2 brothers Khorram and Naoshad Siodia and their spouses Monaaz and Tinaaz.

As word spread and people noticed the selfless efforts of this team, calls for rescues, adoption and sheltering increased and as of today we have 25 stray animals sheltered in the Engineer residence (Ground Floor, Coover Mansion, Gamdevi, Mumbai 400007) and we feed over 75 animals daily.

While the response and appreciation from the neighborhood was overwhelming, we were now encountering constraints in terms of space, man-power and finances.

We needed to raise funds for:
* Hiring human resources
* Acquiring a larger space to shelter the animals
* Purchasing a vehicle for rescues and transportation
* Food requirements
* Medical expenditure (operations and post-operative care, veterinary charges, spay/neuter expenses, vaccinations and medicines etc.
* Administrative overheads.

We knew that we could increase the scope of our mission only through the support and patronage of donors and charitable institutions.

The time had come to formalize the efforts.

Hence, AWARE (Reg. No. E - 30655) was Born !!
