Assam Motorsports and Adventure club - AMAC

Assam, a scenic state of India is situated in the eastern part of India. Surrounded by the hill states of Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Manipur; it forms the seven sisters that is so popular all over the world. Comprising the valleys of the Brahmaputra and the Barak along with the hills of Karbi Anglong and North Cachar, it has an area of 30,285 sq. miles. Geographically it is connected to the rest of India by the famous narrow strip of land known as ‘Chicken’s Neck’ or the Siliguri Corridor.

Assam has a heritage and culture that is unique to this state. Fuelled by large scale immigrations in the past of different races of people, it has always been a melting pot of cultures and civilizations. Like its diverse population, the state also boasts of being a bio diverse hotspot. The world famous Kaziranga and Manas wildlife parks are situated here which are choc a bloc with animals that are a sense of pride for the people of the state. The One-Horned Rhinoceros, Asian Elephant, and Big Cats like Tiger and Leopard are some of the fauna found here. Assam is also famous for its Tea Gardens and its Petroleum reserves which are some of the oldest Oil reserves in the world.

However with advent of turmoil and armed resistance in this part of the world the youth have always been a disgruntled lot with not much to do and with more time to spend. However in recent years a lot of youth through education, travel and general interest have come to love, adore and began to take an interest in Motorsports and Adventure as a whole. Considering the sorry state of general sports in Assam and North-East as a whole, Motorsports and Adventure activities are still at a nascent stage in the region. AMAC (Assam Motorsports and Adventure Club) are a group of youths from the state of Assam who wish to address these issues by being a platform for the immense talent of Assam that needs to be recognized and have an equal opportunity to perform. There has always been a huge section of the youth populace who has always been Gear Headed or into Adventure Sports. This is the basic treatise that led to the formation of AMAC as a group, with the intention of being the tip of the sword when it comes to representing the youth in Adventure and Motorsports related events.

AMAC was conceptualized by 11 youth from the small town of Golaghat who had similar dreams, and that was to make their machines faster or to climb the mountain that no one else from that area had climbed. Most of the youth came from families with limited means of affluence, however that didn’t stop most of them from dreaming, and dreaming big. Trips to Tawang, Mokokchung, Kohima materialised from the guys making great personal sacrifices, considering that many people don’t advocate the off-beaten path. In a society where ‘being safe’ is the mantra to live by, the boys at AMAC advocate taking life by its horns. We believe in being go-getters who demand a 110% out of our live’s. Our motto is to not go with the flow, rather being trailblazers in our own right.

With a sudden surge and interest in off-beat sports coming to the forefront, we see this as the optimum time to come onto the scene and make our presence known. In this respect we have planned a host of events, activities and workshops. The goal is simple; repersenting the youth who form the other half, and giving wings to their dreams.
