Established in the year 1919 as the Chota Nagpur Light Horse Club it was rechristened as The Asansol
Club Ltd. and incorporated under the Companies Act.1913 vide registration on 21003409 dated 27.09.1919.
In the early days,Club facilites and membership was restricted to Europeans and Senior Gevement Officials only.The entire stretch of Polo Ground was also under the jurisdiction of the Club.
But during the second World War the said Polo Ground was taken over by the Government for defence purposes and there after handed over to the West Bengal Covil Defence Authority.
It is no exaggeration but we feel proujd to mention here that ours is not only lthe oldest Club outside Kolkata but the most prestigious Club too.
The Membership strength is limited to 700 No. and restricted to the lwhos who of th is Division. Special stress and emphasis is given to the candidates credibility and social standing,
Gentlement and laides from all walks of the life some very renowned and distinguished personalities are also members.
