On 15th January 1980(Army Day), the Chief of the Army staff made an announcement regarding the establishment of the army schools throughout the country to impart adequate educational facilities upto 10+2 level for the children of Army personnel.
Close on the heels of this announcement came the setting up of our Army Schools at Udhampur,Bangalore,Dehradun and Ambala. More and more such schools are being raised to the status of Army Schools every year.
Army School,Narangi,was initially established as a unit school in 1970 with 10 children. In the beginning it catered for Nursery students only and was known as "Rhino School". Subsequently, in 1980, classes upto IV were added and the name of the school changed to "Hill View Public School". Between 1981 and 1983, three more classes were added.
In 1982, the school came under the AWES (Army Welfare Educational Society) as one of the Army Schools. It commenced its first academic session as an Army School on 28th June 1982.In March 1992,the first batch of students both in the Science and the Arts stream appeared for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE). In March 1997, the first batch of commerce stream appeared for AISSCE.
