Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy

Welcome to the Facebook Page of Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy – an institution that stands out as a living testimony of Armenian culture for over one hundred and ninety years, in Kolkata, the cultural citadel of India.
The Academy is the oldest seat of learning in the entire Armenian Diaspora. Founded in April, 1821, the Academy has been a venerable witness of innumerable historical events, political upheavals, linguistic alterations, climatic variations and other social changes. In the face of these inevitable changes, what has not altered even a bit, however, is the indomitable spirit of Armenian national ethos.
The Armenian College has most significantly imbibed and nurtured the two thousand year long Indo – Armenian relationship and it continues to remain an embodiment of the fraternity between the two countries. Countless students, who took lessons in Armenian language and literature, Armenian history, music and religion from their countrymen, also took lessons in arts, commerce and sciences from Indian teachers – the colourful tales of empathy and growth just went on getting longer and more meaningful, under the auspices of this college.
Based on such ageless wisdom, the Armenian College is now embarking upon a new challenge of facing the twenty-first century, in the most meaningful way.
I am confident that with the bountiful blessings from the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin II, Armenian College will continue to flourish with renewed vigour.
